So that final hurdle? Yeah, about that...

About ten minutes after I posted this morning's update, Danielle received a voice mail from the county caseworker. Today's meeting? Canceled. Or postponed, maybe? Something, but once again, the details were sparse. Because, of course they were. All we were told was that there was “a change in the case.” We've tried to get in touch with the caseworker since we received her voice mail but without success. Danielle called our agency caseworker, J, who seemed completely baffled by this development. Our agency had not be told of any change, which struck both us and J as pretty unusual. Granted, the change could be something beneficial to us. Or the change could completely eliminate us from consideration. It's hard to say because we weren't told anything.

When we started this blog, Danielle and I hoped that it could serve as a resource for other families considering this same route. Perhaps subconsciously, we've tried to keep the blog updates mostly positive. However, frustration and disappointment are just as much a part of this process as the joy of finally receiving a child.

At this point, we don't really know what the next step is. Hopefully, the meeting gets rescheduled. But who knows? (Not us!) We're trying to stay hopeful for the best possible outcome. We keep telling ourselves that if we aren't the chosen family, than it must mean that there is an even better family out there. Which would be awesome for the child, because I think we'd do a pretty great job of being parents to whichever child we'd be blessed with. Nevertheless, at this point, we just want to know anything. We are more than happy to wait weeks longer if this child will eventually come home with us. But at the same time, if this baby boy won't be coming home with us, we just want to know so that we can grieve and move forward.

All of our families and friends have been amazing and endless sources of support throughout this journey. We just hope you've all got some more support to give because we may need now more then ever. We love you all.
